Anxious Dog

So woke up around 1AM this morning to Bella growling at our dresser.  Gotta say it was strange, but I thought what the heck. Let's try the thundershirt to see if it helps to calm her anxiety.  Sorry to report that I didn't see much improvement.  I still had to coax her in to laying back down and being calm with her, like we does when she gets anxious.  Hope that I can post soon about a success.  My next experiment will be leash pulling since I can't get the thunder to start.

Day 2: Excitibility and Car Ride

Today we went to John's parents house.  The home of Bella's cousins and Grandpa.  This is one of her favorite places to go and she gets very excited.  So we put on the thunder shirt for the car ride over to see if it would help with her excitability in the car.  As you can see from the video below, it didn't work as well as we hoped.  The other test for excitability was when we got to the front gate.  The typical behavior for Bella when we get to Grandpa's house is all four paws coming off the ground and whining with excitement.  With the thunder shirt on, it was no different.  She was still jumping with excitement and was whining plenty.  We will give the thunder shirt another try when we have a guest come over to see the Bella, but so far I'm not impressed.

Day 1: Thunder Shirt

Didn't have too much time to experiment with the thunder shirt.  John and I are both home and the evening seems to get a little nosier in our apartment complex.  There's a loud bang out in the hallway and Bella does her coonhound howl!  This is the perfect time to experiment because our new neighbors right across the hall are being their usual noisy selves.  So here we go!  The thunder shirt fits snuggley, but not too tight to make her "suck it in." haha.  Bella did seem to growl a little at the door, protecting her territory.  However, after continuous noise she remains calm and the growling seizes.  It's only the first day and I am a little skeptical, we'll see what the future days bring!
